Best settings for screenshot compression
Screenshots typically contain text, UI elements, and flat colours — they compress differently from photos. For screenshots with text, use JPEG at 85–90% quality to keep text sharp. For screenshots with crisp icons or UI that needs pixel-perfect accuracy, PNG is better. For sharing in Slack, email, or Jira, JPEG at 80% typically reduces a 2MB screenshot to 200–400KB with fully readable text.
