Official SSC photo and signature specifications
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) enforces strict upload specs across all exams. Applications with non-compliant photos or signatures are rejected without notice — even if all other details are correct. Always match these specs exactly before uploading to SSC One.

SSC exam photo checklist
Background must be white or very light — SSC One rejects grey, coloured, or patterned backgrounds. Take in natural light near a white wall.
Photograph must be recent (ideally taken in the last 6 months). Wear formal clothing. No sunglasses or caps. Face must be clearly visible.
Photo must be JPEG only — PNG, WebP, or PDF are rejected. This tool outputs JPEG by default.
File size must be between 20KB and 50KB. Too small (under 20KB) is also rejected — check the output size before uploading.
Signature should be on white paper with black or dark blue ink. Scan or photograph it on a plain background. Crop tightly before compressing.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SSC photo is 25KB but the portal says "invalid size" — why?
SSC One checks both file size AND image dimensions. If your 25KB photo is 400×460px instead of 200×230px, the portal may reject it for dimension mismatch. Use the tool to resize to 200×230px AND compress to 20–50KB before uploading. Both must match SSC specs.
Can I use a phone camera photo for SSC?
Yes, provided it meets specs: clear face, white background, formal attire, recent, JPEG format. Compress the phone photo from 3–5MB down to 20–50KB using this tool. The tool handles the quality reduction automatically while keeping the face clearly visible at these small sizes.
What if my compressed photo looks blurry at 20KB?
At 200×230px resolution, 20KB gives sufficient quality for SSC portal display — your face will be clearly visible at those dimensions. The photo only needs to be identifiable, not print-quality. If you need a sharper result, resize to exactly 200×230px first, then compress — this gives better quality at the same file size.
Can I use the same photo for UPSC and SSC?
Generally yes, if your photo is recent and meets both portals' background/attire requirements. But the file size limits differ: UPSC allows up to 200KB at 350×350px, while SSC needs 20–50KB at 200×230px. Use the portal-specific tool links above to get the right compressed version for each portal.
